The Psalmist

Abigail is without a doubt the musically inspired one in our house. She sings all day long her; her own made-up songs as well as those she quickly memorizes. On days when Nathan is in school, she likes to lay next to the radio and just listen to songs all day. For Christmas she got a new music CD from her beloved Veggie Tales. After listening to one song only three times, she sang it aloud. She breathes music.
Nathan on the other hand is less interested in music. He has his occasional favorites but never requests it or just walks about the house singing. Even when he was a child, songs where no big thing to him. Except for when he sings about God. This is a recent development (last few months). He either sings Christmas songs (Go Tell It On The Mountain, Away In A Manger, Jingle Bells) or makes up his own songs about God. While his melodic skills leave much to be desired, he does compose very nice text. He is the sweet psalmist in our house. Here is his latest work that was created in the shower.

"He is the God of Israel.
He rules over everything.
He rules the land,
He rules the earth,
He rules the heavens.
Heavens, oh heavens!
The end! (with gusto)"

I obviously do not need to tell you how sweet it is for the mother and believer in me to hear him make such music....

  1. That is so dear and so mature. I can just imagine how sweet it would feel, like you said, for the mother and believer in you to hear him make such music. Like it says, (loosely quoted) "I can know no greater joy than to know that my children are walking in the truth." Beautiful. Keep up that good work of raising those dear kids. :)

  2. Thank you for your kind words, Kendra. Always enjoy reading your comments.
